As a youthful understudy, J.R.R. Tolkien discovers love, kinship and creative motivation among a gathering of individual pariahs. Their fraternity before long fortifies as Tolkien faces the hardship of a turbulent romance with Edith Bratt and the flare-up of World War I. These early educational encounters later move the growing writer to compose the great dream books "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings."
