Catherine "Kya" Clarke is an unendingly creative little kid who experiences childhood in a North Carolina bog. Deserted by her folks and more established kin in the mid 1950s, Kya figures out how to get by all alone. Once more she is instructed to peruse and compose by her companion Tate Walker and succumbs to him, yet is left behind when he sets off for college.
Pursue Andrews is a quarterback who brings Kya into a tryst with commitments of marriage that won't ever emerge. After Kya cuts off their friendship, Chase goes after her and she barely get away. Then, while she is away, Chase is viewed as dead and Kya is immersed in a homicide preliminary, with the proof against her appearing to be unconquerable.
