After the rousing success of KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) - Chapter-1, the first look of its sequel KGF-Chapter-2 has been released. The makers have retained Yash as the main lead from the first part,who stars as Rocky, but the real surprise is the role of the which will be played by Sanjay Dutt this time. Dutt had also appeared in the first part of the film but only at the end but this time, he will playing the full-fledged role of a villain.
July 29 was chosen as the day to release the first look of Sanjay Dutt as Adheera as it was his birthday. Sharing a picture on Instagram, Dutt wrote, “It’s been a pleasure working on this film and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift.”
Fans had been eagerly waiting for the sequel to KGF after its first part grossed more than Rs 76 crore at the box office on the first four days of the release in 2018. Both films have been directed by Prashanth Neel and they are set in the Kolar gold fields in Karnataka. The first look of Adheera got a positive response from the audience and netizens who gave a thumbs up to the make up and overall look of Sanjay Dutt. Dutt last played a villainous role like this alongside Hrithik Roshan in the remake of Agneepath where he played Kancha Cheena, and received accolades for a menacing performance that resulted into the film being a box office success.
The coronavirus or covid-19 pandemic had hit the Kannada film industry with cases in Karnataka rising exponentially in the last few months. Due to this, the shooting of KGF chapter 2 was affected. However, later, relaxation was provided by the government in a number of sectors after which the shooting resumed and the incomplete portions were shot. KGF chapter 2 also stars Raveena Tandon and Srinadha Shetty in important roles. The film, from its first look, seems extremely action packed and it will be interesting to see if it manages to get a release on the big screen or has to remain contend with an OTT platform release.
KGF chapter 2 will release later this year and will be available in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. The music has been created by Ravi Basrur and the cinematography has been done by Bhuvan Gowda.
